NoodleTools Virtual Desktop with Notecards for the Academy of Achievement Project

You can create a plie by dragging one related notecard on top of the other
and labeling the pile based on where you might use this information in your speech.
In research always compile more information than you will end up using!

Here's a look inside at two of my note cards. The first one is in the edit mode.
Notice that the first quote in the Direct Quote Box is the description of the Key: Preparation
Also notice I created a citation system that indicates what page # of the interview the quotes come from,
that I have the Source linked to the Original Works Cited entry (Profile page),
but that the URL comes from the page that contains (in this case) all the Wilson quotes
related to the Key of Preparation (you can get that page for you Academy member
by clicking on the Key to Success link found at the bottom a some of the
bolded interview boxes):

Here are two other examples, but they are in the View details mode. Notice how I included both direct quotes and paraphrased information.

Note in the My Ideas box I gave a reminder to myself to return to these quotes and paraphrase this information
because in my speech I do not want to simply string together one direct quote after another!

AT THIS STAGE IN MY RESEARCH I HAVE NOT YET DETERMINED WHAT WILL MAKE IT INTO MY SPEECH AND WHAT WILL BE CUT.
THIS IS WHY I HAVE A SEPARATE CARD ENTITLED SPEECH INTERVIEW QUOTES. LATER ON I WILL MOVE THE QUOTES I WANT TO USE
INTO THAT CARD. DO YOU HAVE TO DO IT THIS WAY? NO, BUT I AM TRYING TO PROVIDE A MODEL TO HELP YOU ORGANIZE YOUR
RESEARCH AND SPEECH PREPARATION.

REMEMBER, IN THE HANDOUT I GAVE YOU IT STATES THE FOLLOWING ABOUT THE CONTENT OF YOUR SPEECH

Speech Content Expectations (30 pts) Speech Delivery (15 pts):

Length: The Goal is Four Minutes (no less than Three/no more than Five)

Content: Using the information from your research, help your audience understand why  your person is a member of the Academy of Achievement.

Who?  Biography highlights (Biography and Interview links)

What?  Major achievements in her/his life: Goals, obstacles, setbacks, successes (Profile and Interview links)

How?  Address how your person accomplished her/his goals with the help of the three keys to success you focused on in your research. (Interview link)

Why?  Explain why you chose your person and include two things you learned about this person that inspired you and/or that you never knew before about

her/him; explain how you might emulate her/him in your own life.

FINALLY, AFTER DETERMINING WHICH THREE KEYS OF SUCCESS TO FOCUS ON AND AFTER READING/ TAKING NOTES ON HIS PROFILE,
BIOGRAPHY, AND INTERVIEW, HERE IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT A THESIS STATEMENT (that I placed in myNoodleTools dashboard)

Research Question: Why was E.O.Wilson inducted into the Academy of Achievement?

Thesis Statement:

Known as the father of the modern science of sociobiology, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author, and an outspoken advocate for conservation and biodiversity,
Harvard Professor E.O.Wilson's induction into the Academy of Achievement in 1988 acknowledged his lifelong contributions to the scientific community.
